The organisers of the BrandEx Awards 2020 are delighted about the record number of entries – 149 submissions had been received by the entry deadline,  well exceeding the previous year’s figure of 123 entries. Participants could submit entries for the competition, which honours the best projects of the year in the areas of live marketing and brand architecture, until July 8.

All entries will be subject to the vote of the jury, whose membership is now complete. The organisers succeeded in significantly increasing the proportion of women on the jury this year. Just under 40 per cent of the jury members come from abroad.


For example, one of the new jury members is Alejandro Escalante Zepeda, International Project Manager and New Business Manager at Omega Group Mexico. The architectural expert commented on his agreement to participate, ‘I’m greatly looking forward to evaluating the various projects based on my standpoint and experience in the industry.’

Karla Juegel, CEO and owner of the consultancy Messe | Marketing, likewise comes from the field of architecture. She sees the ‘BrandEx Awards as one of the most important platforms demonstrating professionalism in live communication as well as raising awareness of conceptual solutions in conjunction with precise planning and timely execution, particularly in the competitive environment of trade shows and exhibitions.’

Brigitte Nussbaum, the managing director of the Munich-based agency trendhouse Eventmarketing, completes the jury team for the Event category. ‘The ongoing development of the industry as well as the proactive commitment to creativity and quality in live communication are priorities close to my heart. I look forward to lots of exceptional projects worthy of awards.’ André Gebhardt, likewise a new juror for the Marketing Events category and Tribe Lead for Major Events & Communities at T-Systems International, shares this sentiment.

Florian Hettler, Head of Gastronomy & Catering and member of the management board at Alois Dallmayr KG, is also a member of the 2020 jury. ‘The catering sector has a major influence on the success of an event and is one of the things that guests will readily remember. That’s why I want to get involved in honouring outstanding achievements,’ he said, explaining why he joined the jury.

During an online meeting on 18 July, the jurors will select the projects for the final phase of the competition and request further documentation from their creators. The jurors will meet in person in Dortmund on 15-16 October to choose the winners, who will subsequently be notified.

The trophies will be presented at the awards ceremony on 14 January 2020. In addition, the winners will collect points for the BOB ranking – the Best of the Best list of the BrandEx Awards. Each winner will also receive a ticket worth € 700 for the International Festival of Brand Experience.

Potential competitors for the BrandEx Fresh Award still have a bit of time to submit their applications; the deadline is 30 September 2019. The corresponding briefing is available at brand-ex.org.
